You Me At Six (YM@6) – (The BIC, Bournemouth – 11/04/17) ★★★★☆

Formed in 2004, You Me at Six’s sound has seen them evolve from pop punk teenagers to maturing alt rockers in more recent years. Currently touring in support of their fifth record ‘Night People’ from their new album with the same name, produced by Jacquire King (James Bay, Kings Of Leon), the band opened with the title track backed by a complex light show to rapturous applause from the adoring audience.

There was very little hint of holding back during the opening numbers with crowd favourites Underdog, Loverboy and Stay With Me, it’s safe to say the crowd were loving it.

There was a good amount of interaction with frontman Josh Franceschi asking the crowd to get down low and jump up in time with the music.

Although this young crowd were loving the gig it wasn’t my kind of music; all too loud, heavy bass and the lights where all too much being very bright and flashy. I saw a few people cover their eyes when this was happening.

However, You Me At Six as well as the support bands, Tonight Alive and Black Foxxes are a must see for all rock fans.

I give this gig 4 stars
