Ella Eyre (02 Guildhall, Southampton 03/10/15) ★★★★★

The singer songwriter from London released her debut album Feline in August and now embarks on her UK tour.

Southampton was Ella’s first stop, but you wouldn’t have known by her flawless performance. She burst on to stage like she’d been kept indoors for weeks. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a performer move so much and still being about to produce such killer vocals. Even when her boobs tried to creep out of her catsuit, it didn’t distract her.

She powered through songs from her album such as Deeper, Comeback and Gravity, with the crowd singing with her to every word. The stage presence of this lioness was second to none, as well as her interaction with the crowd. Although I am sure I heard her say Bournemouth instead of Southampton at one point which we shall quickly move past.

A popular song on the night was when she performed the UK number one single “Waiting All Night” which she had collaborated on with Rudimental. This song was Ella’s first ever chart entry, so you could say this was the turning point in her success!

She swaggered in to “If I Go” lifting the wings up on her catsuit as she jumped around with her exaggerating emotions on stage. She took a break from her energetic dance moves and performed her version of Jermaine Stewart’s “We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off” which is a personal favourite of mine. I saw her perform her rendition of this song before and it really is something special.

Ella finished the set off with “Together” where she got the whole band busting out some moves. The crowd were all jumping with their hands in the air. I loved seeing Ella last year, and this year she gone up a level again. Great start to her tour!
