Petula Clark (The Pavilion, Bournemouth – 17/10/16) ★★★★★

If I have the energy and stamina at Petula Clark’s age then I’m going to be a happy woman, at 83 years young Clark’s vocals didn’t falter, her one-woman show captivated me and the rest of the highly appreciative audience in the beautiful town of Bournemouth at the Pavilion theatre.

Clark’s vocals transform you to another place that makes you feel as if you’re floating down a babbling brook, fingers dangling in the cool shimmering water, on a hot summer’s day dreamily listening to the many hits that Petula has made over the decades of a very illustrious career.

Petula Clark sang a lovely selection  of new and old hits, the new taken from her new album  – From Now On – Sacrifice My Heart, A Miracle To Me, McCartney’s Blackbird, a great cover  ‘Fever’ by Peggy Lee, a great friend of Clark’s.

Tony Hatch has played an important part in Clark’s career and have had a great number of hits to compliment this great union. Charley Chaplin wrote, ‘This is my Song’ ( taken from the film  ‘The Countess from Hong Kong’) gave it to Clark who turned it into a world-wide success (sadly the film didn’t).

The one song that made me sit up to pay attention was Gnarls Barkley’s ‘Crazy’ a brilliant cover and my favourite.

I give this concert 5 stars, because I solute you Ms Petula Clark at the age of 83 travelling around the country performing at 20 locations it’s inspiring.
