Jake Bugg (O2 Academy, Bournemouth – 2/11/16) ★★★★★

If you haven’t seen Jake Bugg I would suggest you go and see him before he gets too famous for our smaller venues.

Not having heard of this young lad before, I was pleasantly surprised, with his distinctive vocal range and brilliant guitar play, add drums, keyboards to the mix and you’ve got one fantastic show. Bugg could do a one man show and still bring the house down.

Bugg started the show with acoustic versions of On my One, Strange Creatures, The Love we’re Hoping For and then Simple As This. Bugg changed to electric guitar, the band kicked in; his dedicated fans gave rapturous applause.

Jake Bugg gave thanks to his fans for turning up, not much else was said during the show (my kind of show). The crowd sang along with Bugg, tracks taken from his three albums, Two Fingers, Bittersalt, Seen it All, Love Hope and Misery, Trouble Town, Put out the Fire, Taste It, Broken, to name but a few.

Bugg has such raw talent it’s like listening to a mash up of the great Johnny Cash, Seasick Steve, with a touch of Rock Pop and a sprinkling of Country and out pops Jake Bugg just brilliant.

Jake Bugg left the best until last Lightning Bolt which was my favourite. There was no encore, but to be honest the show didn’t need it after 21 songs the audience were more than happy and everyone went home with happy smiles.

I give this concert 5 stars.
